Are your instruments cleaned between classes?
Absolutely! Little ones often put instruments and toys in their mouths so to limit the spread of germs we disinfect our resources between classes.
Please read the following thoroughly, as this is our cleanliness policy:
Whenever a group of children are together, there is a chance of spreading infections. This is especially true among infants and toddlers who are likely to use their hands to wipe their noses or rub their eyes and then handle toys or touch other children. We have put in place a number of prevention measures, but it is likely that some infections may still be spread in our sessions because of airborne viruses. For many of these infections, a child is contagious a day or more before he has symptoms.
Children, by their nature, are more susceptible to infectious diseases. Frequent hand-to-mouth behaviours, still learning appropriate hygiene skills (keeping fingers out of nose, covering coughs, proper hand-washing) all lend themselves to the spread of germs and ultimately disease. Children also have close physical contact and do not practice much social distancing. Children also cough and sneeze, releasing germs into the air and onto other children and share items that may be mouthed or touched by another child.
At Making Rainbows we stay updated on best management practices for infection control by doing the following:
Daily/Between Classes
Cleaning: When required, using detergent and hot water to remove visible dirt from shakers and mouthed toys then rinse with clean water.
Sanitising/Disinfecting: Applying an additional sanitiser solution to reduce the number of germs likely to cause disease. Hospital grade Oxivir Tb 946ml is used between sessions. It kills all virus’s as well as bacteria. After only 1 minute, viruses and bacterial are killed and the active ingredient has evaporated leaving just water. This product is sprayed on shakers and mouthed toys between and after all classes.
We use Glen20 lightly sprayed over cushions, mats, drums, Lycra or any resources not susceptible to end up in a baby’s mouth. Glen20 disinfectant spray kills 99.9% of germs and viruses on hard and soft surfaces.
Weekly Cleaning
